"Last Male Standing" is an animal welfare event held annually since 2015 in Laikipia, Kenya to raise awareness of the northern white rhinos' plight. Across Africa, there has been a dramatic escalation of rhino poaching in recent years. Ol Pejeta Conservancy is now home to the last two northern white rhinos left on the planet.
Over the weekend of 14-16 June, cricketers and spectators from a wide variety of different ethnic, social and cultural backgrounds will come together in Kenya for the fifth annual "Last Male Standing Rhino Cricket Cup" at Laikipia's famed Ol Pejeta Conservancy with shared goals -
- to raise awareness for enhancement of rhino conservation efforts within the region, and
- to provide support for the Foundation for Youth Cricket & Education in Kenya (FYCEK), a charity that helps to transform the lives of thousands of disadvantaged Kenyan children through sport and education.
'The Sudan Memorial Cup' will once again be awarded to the team that donates the highest amount this year (outside of tournament entry fees, but including raffle ticket purchases and online/cash donations). To help these great causes please consider donating online at GoFundMe.
This conservation event is also a showcase for the global reach of cricket and the benefits that sport can bring, with a host of diverse teams drawn from far and wide, along with representative teams and players from cricket clubs within Kenya and across the region.
